Jean Shinoda Bolen, author, Jungian analyst and professor at UCSF in clinical psychiatry will speak at Meditation Mount in Ojai, California about raising our consciousness through spiritual activism. Join us Friday, August 14th, 7 to 9 PM. Register online at www.meditation.com
In Jean’s poetic polemic,
In Urgent Message from Mother, she explores the transformative power of the sacred feminine and how a new wave of spiritual activism is heralding a grassroots peace movement world wide.
Jean elucidates Rupert Sheldrake’s theory of morphic resonance, which describes how societies and even species undergo rapid evolution when they reach a tipping point.
One of my favorite books is by Jean,
Although published in the 1980s, she discusses the Jungian concept of synchronicity and spiritual meaning in our lives that can be overlooked or missed for what they are. Taoists call this The Way. Psychology text didn’t consider such a concept when I was in grad school at that time. By relating the concepts of Tao and synchronicity, Jean reveals important links between psychology and mysticism, right brain and left, the individual and the external world. She offers interpretions of synchronistic events in our lives and dreams, intuition and flashes of perception that transform our existence. She has authored many deep thought provoking books, among them are
Hi Kim,
I would love to go to this. Could I meet you there?
Best,
Lynn
I began a dream journal about 1976 while living in CA whenn suddenly I was having dreams that would wake me up and replay like a movie in front of me sometimes but I didn’t begin reading Jung and von Franz until after I moved to VA in 1980. A few years later we moved to New Orleans and I continued reading both Jung and von Franz and also got hooked on Joseph Campbell, which led to more and more reading down related paths. When we moved East again a few years later I began reading Marion Woodman and Jean Bolen and found them enormously helpful. Also began reading Jean Houston, Helen Luke, material on shamanism (for example, Dreamtime & Inner Space by Holger Kalweit), Black Goddess material (especially Peter Redgrove and China Galland). In April of last year whilewe were gathering for our father’s memorial service, my brother introduced me to the writings of Ken Wilber and while on the road I found a used bookstore and picked by 3 of Ken’s books. They are heavy sledding but fascinating. I find that all the authors I have mentioned seem very much to have woven a whole cloth for me personally. However, my journaling has been a kind of off-again on-again kind of thing over the years, depending upon what the challenges of my life are in a given year.
Jean Bolen’s presentation was filled with light, love and lots of estrogen! Yes, we had some much needed testosterone men too.
Jean told us she was an activist intent on helping raise the consciousness of humankind. She told us about the development of her millionth circle concept (which is a book too) and how Rupert Sheldrake’s theory of morphic resonance will facilitate the collective consciousness.
How does the morphic field theory apply? Once enough (in terms of numbers) people have awakened spiritually a tipping point will be reached, thus changing the entire field of consciousness, from that point forward and for all new people born. Read her books, including “Urgent Message from Mother” for more.
Hi Kim -
I’m so happy to read your summary of Jean Shinoda Bolen’s current thinking. It’s actually one of the things I was discussing with that “spirit guide” I was chatting with today – the tipping point of human consciousness and whether it’s really possible that in a short time we’ll have crossed the threshhold into a new cycle of human evolution. It seems what many of us are about now.. I’ve been reading Barbara Marx Hubbard’s “Emergence, in which she says we’re the first transitional generation making the shift from “local” to “universal” human. Let it be so!
Blessings, Tomar
