Welcome to Living to Make Sense of It All,
or to put it another way- Living It – to make sense of All.
Namaste. My intention for using this platform is to connect with people around the world to discuss living everyday life in an awakened state of consciousness. I am both a student and a teacher, as are you, dear reader. I will be writing and sharing with you from my home in Ojai California.*
Please feel free to contact me, Kimberly Wulfert, PhD, here: kwulfert@earthlink.net or during business hours 11-5:30, M-F Pacific Standard Time, 805-649-1821. To find out more about my psychology practice and services, visit this page.
It was June 2009 when this blog & website began. I had an inner vision to buy the domain name earlier in the year. Then in June its unfolding began and the focus of my content was to be: spirituality & seeking deeper awareness of everything and nothing, conscious living, meditation, journaling & writing, creativity, conscious entrepreneurship, green living, and great books on these topics.
This Fall, I resumed my practice as a liscensed clinical psychologist. Formerly a cognitive-behavioral psychologist, I am reentering the field steeped in the traditions of humanistic transpersonal psychology. My “sabatical” from practicing for the last 5 years is why.
I gave Carl Rogers’ theories a deeper look. He has been called The Father of the Humanistic movement. Rogers’ approach blends effortlessly with meditation and journaling as my methods of choice for inner work. Many people know the humanistic approach developed Abraham Maslow. He was the first to study positive psychology, “peak experiences” and the characteristics of “self-actualized” people instead of psychopathology.
My focus for practicing today is on fostering and developing the strengths of your mind/body/spirit/emotions rather psychpathology and diagnostics. A focus on meditation and mindful practices, inner guidance, dream interpreation, intuition, and your passions help guide you out of the problems that bring you into your personal work. I believe in everyone having inherent wisdom. With me holding the space for you, you will learn to be their answer to their own questions and decision-making.
Whether an individual or as groups, the tennor will be a community of kind, loving, creative, receptive, beautiful, ever-expanding and always abundant souls. Dr. Wayne Dyer describes Intention and connecting with Source through these same seven words in his book “The Power of Intention”. I highly recommend it.
As a writer, journaler and fabric/paper artist (in my own mind), I find the use of prompts stir my creative juices and point me in novel directions. So, I will be offering prompts to you in some of my posts. You can use them as you like. I would like to know if they are of value, and should you care to comment or email me feedback, please do so.
I look forward to having great discussions with you. Comments, generation of ideas for topics, and dialogs on relevant themes and books are all welcome. I read the comments, and I will use them as my prompts. Thank you.
If you would like to discuss working with me privately by phone or in Ojai, please contact me. It is so important to find the right fit for a therapeutic alliance to be deepening and effective for you; anything less will impede the experience for both of us.
Many of the nature pictures on my site will be from those I take around
my yard and Ojai. I spend quiet time meditating and writing at Meditation Mount (MM) in Ojai, where they nurture an International Peace Garden. MM lies high above the small town of Ojai aka “Paradise Valley” where Krishnamurti had his home and taught. The Krotona Institute of Theosophy was built here in 1967. The energies and desires to rise up to meet our higher purposes are ever present in Ojai. It is a magnet to people wanting to make sense of living every day.
Photos of flowers from MM’s gardens and 360 degrees views will grace the pages often. The photos of cactus and succulents are from my garden which we made drought-resistant in 2002. My service to meditation Mount, in addition to our morning meditations for peace, is to take care of making flower arrangements to grace the meditation room and auditorium. It is my privilege to be able to walk their vast gardens and cut the flowers and greens I chose to use. What could be better? (A little rain would help.) This opportunity to be creative with flowers, in nature, is a true joy. I am grateful to the caring giving staff at the Mount for offering this gift to me. Sharing photos from the Mount with you is part of giving back. I hope you enjoy the views and will visit the Mount when you come to southern California.
*Ojai, “the nest,” is a small rural town, close to the ocean between Santa Barbara and Los Angeles, encircled by mountains. Period photos and a timeline of events and spiritual seekers who were drawn here are shown on The Ojai Museum and Historical Society’s website. I am filled with gratitude to live in this special place, which I have since 1991.
